I always put some 600 or 800 grit sandpaper on a file and sand until smooth and even.

I have a flex shaft tool coming to get the rest of this channel material out, what bit should I use?

I use a small diamond impregnated bit. They don't grab like a metal bit does. Then polish with Flitz and a small buffing wheel.
